Essential Duties and Responsibilities : 

  • operate a variety of textile manufacturing machinery
  • work cooperatively with other employees in a team oriented environment

  • must patrol, monitor and promptly attend to machine lights/alarms, issues, report as needed
  • willingness to support other areas of the department, cross train as needed
  • perform routine housekeeping duties
  • perform miscellaneous duties as necessary

  • support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • must have a strong attention to detail
  • must be able to prioritize duties and maintain schedule requirements
  • demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • willingness to work overtime as needed
  • must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
  • must adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities

Physical Demands:

  • ability to frequently lift/carry bulky and heavy objects up to 50 lbs
  • must have manual dexterity, auditory and visual acuity

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • run industrial knitting machines efficiently and effectively as assigned by the supervisor
  • assist with additional machines as necessary to insure efficiency is maintained
  • material handle, audit and steam additional parts as necessary
  • must be able to make, identify, and repair knitting flaws
  • read and interpret directions on work orders for machine program selection and part measurement requirements for length, width or weight
  • ensure the upkeep of a clean and safe work area on a daily basis
  • record inventory transactions in DATATEX computer and complete necessary paperwork
  • work to increase knowledge of machine repairs and knitting procedures
  • perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
  • follow safe work practices
  • support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities
  • must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
  • willingness to work overtime when required due to production requirements/customer demand
  • must adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • must wear appropriate proper personal protective equipment
  • must be able to work independently and as part of a team

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • manufacturing experience 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • standing, and/or walking for a minimum of 8 hours
  • frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • ability to extend and uplift arms
  • use of hands and fingers to handle needles and for sewing  ability to recognize subtle color differences and identify color matching discrepancies in yarns and knit parts

Boiler Operator
Maintenance
Guilford, Maine, United States

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 

  • responsible for the operation of:
        -   two 350 HP combination wood and oil fired HRT high pressure steam boilers
        -   one oil fired 300 HP Cleaver Brooks Scotch Marine high pressure steam boiler
        -   four feed water pumps
        -   three oil pumps
        -   five chemical pumps, and all associated auxiliary equipment
  • *work on a rotating schedule which includes weekends and holidays
  • perform critical duties during emergency evacuations and other safety related tasks
  • perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
  • follow safe work practices
  • support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • must possess a State of Maine high pressure boiler operator license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • *must be able to work overtime as needed
  • basic understanding of boiler chemicals and their use
  • must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
  • ability to operate skid steer equipment
  • must have strong attention to detail
  • must adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • ability to work in confined space
  • must be able to work without supervision and use sound judgment
  • basic computer skills necessary
  • must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • experience in automatic wood boilers desirable
  • boiler and fire room operations


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
  • frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping and crouching
  • must have visual acuity and manual dexterity
  • the ability to wear a filtering face piece (dust mask) as needed
  • must be able and willing to climb stairs and ladders
  • must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
