Material Handler (Beamer)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• load and unload beams 
• operate beam buttons 
• program beam data into beamer
• operate pallet jack
• operate overhead hoist 
• read ticket to tell type of beam needed
• weigh and return yarn from warping
• help the warper operators, Reed in and load yarn on creels, tie on creels
• monitor for quality assurance
• help maintain housekeeping within the department
• operate sample warper
• follow safe work practices
• perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
• support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• must have strong attention to detail
• ability to obtain and maintain a pallet jack license
• must be dependable, punctual and adhere to attendance policy
• willingness to work overtime as needed
• must cross train as needed
• must adhere to all company policies and procedures
• ability to work independently and be part of a cohesive team
• ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• manufacturing experience

Physical Demands:

• ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
• frequent walking, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, and crouching
• must have visual acuity and color accuracy
• must have manual dexterity
• the ability to wear a filtering face piece (dust mask) as needed
• must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
• must pass Ishihara color vision testing (ability to distinguish color)
