Machine Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• operate a variety of different equipment including presses, dryers, and kettles
• work cooperatively with other employees in a team oriented environment
• operate manual or electric pallet jacks to move material within the work area
• meet multiple fast paced production goals
• must monitor and promptly attend to machine alarms (i.e. Thies, OBEM)
• must operate all package dye machinery, sample, load, and unload
• willingness to support other areas of the department, cross train as needed
• perform routine housekeeping duties
• perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
• follow safe work practices
• support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• must have a strong attention to detail
• ability to obtain and maintain a pallet jack license
• must be able to prioritize duties and maintain schedule requirements
• demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• willingness to work overtime as needed
• must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
• must adhere to all company policies and procedures
• must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• knowledge of dyeing and dye house operation helpful

Physical Demands:

• ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs
• ability to frequently push and pull heavily loaded yarn carts and racks 50 pounds+
• must have manual dexterity, auditory and visual acuity (including color identity)
• must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
• ability to wear a filtering face piece (dust mask) as needed
• frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, twisting, kneeling, crouching
