Knit Machine Technician

Essential Duties and Responsabilities:
- troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical /mechanical problems on programmable industrial knitting machines and other equipment and keep accurate repair records
- calibrate needle beds, stitch cams and yarn feeders
- perform routine preventative maintenance on industrial knitting machines, industrial sewing machines and water conditioning equipment for steam tables according to established check lists and as otherwise assigned
- change over technical machine programs, assist with any other change over needs as requested
- perform routine equipment lubrication and cleaning including spare equipment, machine overhauls and daily/weekly tasks
- assist with ordering repair and operating supplies and machine replacement parts and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- make programmable machine program adjustments
- assist knitters and supervisors with set up problems
- assist with proper handling, storage and disposal of cleaning materials and the documentation of facility chemical inventory
- perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
- follow safe work practices
- support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- must be willing to travel if needed for Stoll Factory Service Training or other textile training
- must be able to work independently
- must adhere to all company policies and procedures
- willingness to work overtime as needed
- must have strong attention to detail and electrical/mechanical aptitude
- basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities
- must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- must be dependable, punctual and adhere to attendance policy
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 2 years industrial textile knitting experience
- vocational certificate in electrical/mechanical field
Physical Demands
- must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, bending , and walking
- ability to frequently stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, twist, reach below waist level and overhead
- must have manual dexterity
- must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
Other:
- must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from Teknit facility
