ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- operate twist/doubling yarn making equipment
- cross train to operate machinery carding, spinning, coning (include weighing up yarns)
- patrol work area for quality and safety issues report problems to the appropriate team members
- coordinate with off-going shift, including talking daily with arriving and departing shift counterparts and other staff concerning run information, ongoing problems, changeovers, etc.
- read production schedules and monitor feeding process, take corrective action when needed
- read and monitor SPC charts and other computerized information
- patrol automated machinery for malfunctions and correct problem(s)
- clean machinery and work area
- assist coworkers in all areas as needed
- periodically operate Mirada machine
- perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
- follow safe work practices
- support LEAN, safety, and sustainability and environmental initiatives
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- must have strong attention to detail
- willingness to work overtime as needed
- must be able to read manuals, production schedules, computer screens, written materials
- must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities
- must be able to cross train
- work independently and as part of team
- must adhere to all company policies and procedures
- must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- manufacturing experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- must be able to lift and carry bulky/heavy objects (up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance)
- continuous walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, and crouching
- must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
- must be able to distinguish various yarn properties, such as color shading, texture, weight
- must have manual dexterity and visual acuity
- the ability to wear a filtering face piece (dust mask) as needed
