ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • stack fabric in the proper color sequence for each particular requirement
  • use electric swatch cutting machine
  • operate high speed sewing machine
  • place swatches on a pre-taped or pre-glued book, place tags on fabric samples
  • place cover over swatches (called flapping), wipe off excess glue
  • check for flaws and material being straight in book
  • inspect and maintain fabric inventory and report low status to supervisor/manager for reorder
  • willing and able to cross train on all jobs in the department
  • prepare fabric for all swatch cards and memo samples, pick customer orders
  • accurate and detailed data entry
  • package and ship orders (tape, shrink wrap, and box product)
  • maintain monthly averages for tagging and swatching
  • accurately and efficiently tag memos, fabric cards and tips
  • perform routine housekeeping duties
  • perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
  • follow safe work practices
  • support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives 
  • grade and hand cut fabric into large groupings


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • mathematical skills are required
  • must be able prioritize and fulfill weekly production requirements
  • communicate professionally with vendors and other departments
  • ability to communicate quality problems to supervisors and coworkers
  • ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions impacting quality and productivity
  • must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
  • must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities
  • must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • willingness to flex schedule, as needed
  • must have strong attention to detail
  • must adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • willingness to work overtime as needed



PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • textiles experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • ability to cut straight lines on fabric
  • must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
  • the ability to wear a filtering face piece (dust mask) as needed
  • must have manual dexterity and visual acuity
  • frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping and crouching
  • must be able to lift and carry bulky and heavy objects up to 50 pounds
